I’VE HEARD FROM OTHER HAIR TRANSPLANT DOCTORS THAT MEGASESSIONS SHOULDN’T BE DONE BECAUSE THEY OFTEN DON’T GROW OR CAN PRODUCE DISASTROUS RESULTS- IS THIS TRUE?”

Some doctors who have not kept abreast of these new advanced techniques often make untrue statements denigrating megasessions. They perhaps don’t want to go through the extra trouble and expense of purchasing the microscopes, hiring and training the extra staff- and handling the tremendous amount of administrative problems that come with it. Some also probably don’t wish to face the long and difficult learning curve of this obviously more exacting procedure.

Be that as it may, many of these doctors won’t consider the Binocular Stereoscopic Dissecting Microscope procedure purely because of how it will affect their profit margin. These All Follicular Unit Megasessions typically take from 8-12 hours to complete, with the painstaking effort of a large attendant staff. To the average hair transplant doctor, this would greatly increase their workload and overhead. Of course, for them, it would be much easier to say ” You can’t do over a thousand grafts at one session” or ” Megasessions produce poor growth and waste hairs”, or ” Megasessions produce too thin a result”.

These, and other equally untrue criticisms of a dense-packed Megasession as done by Dr. Seager are simply not true. See Dr. Shiell’s editorial comments contained in Dr. Eisenberg’s “The Follicular Unit- A Rush To Judgment?”

However, in fairness to some of these other doctors, it must be stated that other hair transplant facilities without highly skilled technicians, adequately trained and practiced in the most advanced dissection techniques using the binocular stereoscopic dissecting microscope, may well frequently obtain poor results.

Without a lot of experience with megasessions and without extreme attention paid to detail at every step along the hair transplant process, disappointing results can be expected. However, at The Seager Hair Transplant Centre, we have been doing 3,000 or more graft sessions, with microscope dissection and dense-packing for over six years now.

If you’d like to really get an “in-depth” look into the technique involved, see a partial list of Dr. Seager’s Academic Articles.
